Himanta Sarma Has An FIR Filed Against Him For Saying “Sonia Gandhi’s Home Should Be Burned”

Debabrata Saikia, a prominent member of the Assam Congress, has reported Himanta Biswa Sarma’s alleged “inflammatory remarks” against Sonia Gandhi to the police in writing. Sarma is accused of making these comments during a rally in the Madhya Pradesh region of Vidisha on September 18, proposing that Mrs. Gandhi’s home should be set on fire.

According to Mr. Saikia, the leader of the opposition in the Assam Assembly, who filed the complaint, “Himanta Sarma directly suggested that 10, Janpath should be burned,” according to PTI, “Taunting Kamal Nath, a prominent member of the Indian National Congress, about his Hindu identity.”

Without a doubt, Sonia Gandhi resides in Delhi at 10, Janpath.

Himanta Sarma, who delivered a “clear instigation towards violence and arson,” “has taken electoral rhetoric to its ugliest form in a country governed by the rule of law,” added Mr. Saikia.

Despite the fact that the comment was made in Madhya Pradesh, he said, it had been widely distributed through print, electronic, and social media platforms, making it available to Assamese citizens.

He said that by urging that Sonia Gandhi, the widow of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, have her home set ablaze, Himanta Sarma was not only criticizing a major member of the opposition but also issuing a call to arms for arson.

According to Mr. Saikia, “Such crass remarks from a person with constitutional authority have the potential to incite misguided individuals to use violence and possibly harm the residents of 10 Janpath.”

According to his remark, he indicated that the BJP leader may be charged with rioting and aiding in violence under the Indian Penal Code.

Debabrata Saikia cited a newspaper article on the Chief Minister’s address in the lawsuit she filed on September 20.

According to a senior police officer, they are still examining the allegation and have not made a judgment yet.

The Chief Minister has been silent about the accusation since he is actively immersed in the BJP’s election campaign in Rajasthan, which is set to take place later this year.
