Hunt for ultras continues in Udhampur

For the third day in a row, security officers in Udhampur are searching for terrorists who have sought sanctuary in the jungles of Dudu Basangarh. They are doing this aggressively.

Unmanned aerial vehicles are being used by security authorities to locate and apprehend terrorists who are hidden in dense foliage.

Senior CRPF and Army personnel joined Jammu ADGP Anand Jain at the location to supervise and keep an eye on the search process directly.

Two sets of terrorists—six or seven people in all—are still being sought for, according to the Jammu & Kashmir Police.

Rayees Mohd Bhat, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) for the Udhampur-Reasi area, said on Monday that the security forces have bolstered their intelligence and that a hunt is now ongoing for terrorists.

“The procedure has started. Deep forests are being searched by our search crews. We’ve pressed for drone monitoring. The newly infiltrating group is being tracked. We have improved our intelligence,” he said.

Mohammad Shareef, the village defense guard, was shot and murdered by the terrorists on Sunday. He lived at Udhampur’s Lower Ponar, Basantgarh.
