Hyderabad: Osmania University announces a Rs 487.03 cr shortfall in the 2024–2025 budget

Hyderabad: On Thursday, the Osmania University unveiled its annual budget for 2024–25, which had a deficit of Rs 487.03 crore.

Professor V Appa Rao of the Department of Commerce delivered the budget presentation, announcing that the State Government’s “Block Grant” for the next fiscal year was set at Rs 487.03 crore, a substantial increase of Rs 30 crore over the previous year’s allocation. He listed the projected revenue as Rs. 718.86 crore and the projected expense as Rs. 796.45 crore, showing a Rs. 44.68 crore shortfall.

Vice chancellor of the University of Oklahoma, Professor D Ravinder, outlined the efforts and successes the institution has made from December 2023 and asked the government to think about funding an extra grant to close this gap and guarantee efficient operations.
