In a US gunfight, four cops were shot and killed

Authorities in Charlotte, North Carolina, said that on Monday, as they were executing a fugitive arrest warrant at a residence, a gunfight broke out, leaving four law enforcement officers dead and four injured.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the fugitive, who opened fire on police as they arrived at the apartment, was shot and killed during the firefight, and two other suspects were taken into custody after a standoff.

According to the White House, Governor Roy Cooper of North Carolina and President Joe Biden had a conversation about the event. According to Johnny Jennings, the chief of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, three of the slain cops were members of a US Marshals Task Force that included officers from many agencies. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department was the employer of the fourth deceased officer.

Subsequently, Jennings named the fourth officer murdered as Joshua Eyer, a six-year veteran of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. According to a statement from the US Justice Department, one of the four dead policemen was a deputy US marshal.

According to Jennings, “Today is a truly tragic day for the city of Charlotte and the profession of law enforcement.” “We lost some heroes today who were just trying to protect our community.”

The US Marshals Task Force officers who lost their lives were trying to carry out a warrant for a convicted felon’s weapon possession.
