In Palwal, Faridabad, 18 school cars are seized by the police

In the continuing campaign to stop the cars transporting the students, the authorities today seized 18 vehicles and issued challans to 323 vehicles in the districts of Palwal and Faridabad.

212 school cars received challans from the Palwal police on Monday. On the fourth day of the drive, 15 more cars were seized.

Among the challans issued today, according to a police department spokeswoman, 121 were given to school buses and 76 were given to private vehicles used to transport children throughout the area.

He further said that the state government had imposed necessary standards under the Surakshit School Vahan Policy, and on the basis of such violations, seven buses and eight vans had been confiscated.

He stated that today the school cars were subject to a fine of Rs 1.28 lakh. Of these, most of the vans and buses were devoid of fire extinguishers, first-aid kits, and CCTV cameras. In addition, when the traffic police checked several of these cars, they discovered that they were overloaded.

According to the spokesman, drivers of buses and other vehicles that transport pupils to and from school have received warnings not to drink alcohol or consume any other intoxicating substances while operating a motor vehicle. During this journey, he stated, the usage of speed governors and the presence of conductors and attendants would be guaranteed.

On Monday, 111 school buses received challans from the Faridabad police. Under the campaign, which was started in response to the Mahendragarh accident that had lost six lives on April 11, they also detained three further automobiles.

According to the police, buses running on gasoline or diesel that are older than 10 or 15 years will not be permitted to operate on municipal roads.

The police emphasized that certain requirements must be met by all school cars, including the installation of CCTV cameras, driver training, vehicle fitness, the presence of a female assistant, staff dress code, speed governors, and appropriate number plates.
