In the Kedarnath Temple, using mobile phones for videography or photography is prohibited

Inside the grounds of this Kedarnath Temple, devotees are not permitted to take pictures or record movies. The action was taken in response to a viral video of a female blogger popping the question to her boyfriend in front of a temple.

Do not enter the temple grounds with a mobile phone; all forms of photography and videography are strictly forbidden inside the temple; and you are being watched by CCTV cameras, according to signs that the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee has placed around the grounds of the temple.

Additionally, the temple has requested that visitors wear “decent clothing” and refrain from pitching tents or making camps within the grounds. The boards, which are printed in both Hindi and English, also warn that individuals who disobey the rules would face legal repercussions.

Ajendra Ajay, head of the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee, said that believers should accept the beliefs that are practiced in a religious setting. Although there haven’t been any complaints from the Badrinath Dham yet, he added, similar boards will also be erected there.
