Kerala: Kannur road disaster takes five life

At Punnachery in Kannapuram, Kannur, on Monday night, a terrible accident between a vehicle and a truck claimed the lives of five people, including a nine-year-old kid.

The fatalities have been named as Ajitha, 35, from Bheemanady in the Kasaragod district, her father, 65-year-old Kozhummal Krishnan, and her nephew, 9-year-old Akash. K N Padmakumar, 59, is from Kalichanadukam. Choorikkatt Sudhakaran, 52, and his wife, 35, are also recognized.

Around 10.15 p.m., Padmakumar was operating the car when the collision happened. Tragically, the infant passed away from injuries at Pariyaram Medical College Hospital, and four people perished there. The crash resulted in injuries for the lorry’s driver, who was carrying gas cylinders.

The sad event happened as the automobile was traveling from Thalassery to Kasaragod. The people trapped inside the car were freed thanks to the Fire and Rescue Services’ quick response.

The family of Sudhakaran was on their way back after dropping off their kid at a hostel in Kozhikode. at the Kozhikode district, his kid is enrolled at an educational institution.

Sources claim that the family traveled for pleasure in addition to dropping their kid off at his dorm. They chose to go to a few locations in Kozhikode and planned to take Akash, the brother of Sudhakaran’s son’s cousin, but they were killed in a sad accident.

The truck driver has been detained by the police.
