Leader of TN opposition EPS requests a white report on 52 panels and the GIM result

Leader of the opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami has insisted on the issuance of a white paper outlining the accomplishments and recommendations of the 52 panels and committees the state administration has established for a variety of reasons up to this point. The AIADMK general secretary emphasized the need of openness about the outcomes of the most recent Global Investors Meet (GIM) during his speech to the Assembly on Wednesday.

Palaniswami said that the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) and Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) were established only to oversee the execution of the Cauvery Water Tribunal’s ruling, in reference to Tamil Nadu’s river water-sharing conflict with Karnataka. Karnataka was not allowed to bring up the Mekedatu problem at CWMA and CWRC sessions by the previous AIADMK government since it was beyond their jurisdiction. When the Mekadatu problem was brought before the Central Water Commission, we also filed a contempt of court lawsuit in the Supreme Court,” the former CM remembered.

He continued by accusing the DMK administration of enabling Karnataka to add the Mekedatu issue to the agenda of the CWMA’s 28th meeting. “What made you show up for the meeting at all? The CWC has now been advised to address the Mekadatu problem by the CWMA. Palaniswami said, “The TN government should pursue the ongoing contempt of court lawsuit against the CWC on this subject.

In response to his accusations, Minister of Water Resources Duraimurugan said that he has already discussed the Mekedatu matter with the union government. “The union minister directed the CWMA not to put the topic on the agenda when I brought it to their notice. Some “miscreants,” nonetheless, were able to disobey this directive. The majority of members opposed sending the topic to the CWC even during the meeting. In spite of this, it was incorrectly reported in the meeting minutes that TN had agreed to forward the matter to CWC. This is “ayokkiyathanam” (dishonesty) on the part of CWMA. He emphasized, “We have already written to authority expressing TN’s displeasure.”

Turning the conversation to the several committees that the DMK administration had set up, Palaniswami questioned their efficacy and demanded a white paper that would reveal the recommendations made so far along with their results.
