Moving the Supreme Court to overturn an ED arrest in a liquor regulation matter is Arvind Kejriwal

Chief Minister and leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Arvind Kejriwal, petitioned the Supreme Court on Wednesday, a day after the Delhi High Court denied his appeal contesting his detention in the liquor policy case.

Around 10.30 am, the lawyer representing the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would bring up the issue with Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and request an urgent hearing.

According to documents given by the ED, the Delhi High Court said at the Tuesday hearing that the AAP supremo “conspired with others” and was “actively involved in using the proceeds of crime.”

Additionally, it claimed that Kejriwal demanded bribes and personally contributed to the creation of the now-cancelled liquor policy. In his role as the AAP’s national convenor, he apparently took part in scandal-related actions.

Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma said that Kejriwal’s “arrest is not in violation of law,” so his “remand cannot be termed illegal” while delivering the decision.

AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj said shortly after the Delhi High Court’s ruling that the party will appeal to the Supreme Court on Wednesday since it disagreed with the decision.

The Enforcement Directorate detained Arvind Kejriwal on March 21 in relation to a money laundering investigation involving the Delhi liquor policy matter. He was placed under 14 days of judicial detention and is being held in the Tihar Jail until April 15.

In related news, the Chief Minister has submitted a second appeal asking for extra time to meet with his attorneys. On Wednesday, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court is scheduled to make a decision about that plea.
