Mumbai: There is a two-week delay in the introduction of BMC’s air pollution app

The Bombay Metropolitan Corporation (BMC) said last week that it was creating a new smartphone app to track air pollution concerns in response to a warning from the Bombay High Court. But it will take at least two weeks for the app to be released.

Following an air pollution hearing before the High Court (HC) on February 4, the BMC announced that the public will now have the ability to file complaints about air pollution via the “Mumbai Air” mobile app. The company said that both iOS and Android users will soon be able to use the mobile application. The application is under beta testing, meaning that a limited number of users may use it before it is made accessible to the general public. The iOS rollout will take a few more days, according to a BMC representative.

During the PIL hearing, the HC had ordered the BMC to create a mobile application and website for complaints about air pollution in Mumbai. In compliance with the court ruling, BMC began working on the Android app “Mumbai Air.” With the help of this application, citizens may register grievances. Additionally, the app will provide the ability to submit concerns by ward. This software will be first accessible on the Android operating system. It will take a few more days for the iOS version.

When submitting a new complaint, it is necessary to include information about the complaint, including the kind of complaint, specifics, address, street name, department name, and photo(s) associated with the complaint. Users of the mobile app may also see the specifics of the actions performed in response to each complaint. Follow-up on the complaint via the website/web portal has been made possible, with the possibility to verify at different stages. Via the mobile application, you may read every complaint from the last six months. Additionally, the dashboard for complaint redressal displays the categorization of complaints.
