NC, PDP will reveal one another, claims the head of the Apni Party

Former Finance Minister and Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari defended his choice to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi shortly after Article 370 was revoked, even as he attacked the National Conference and the People’s Democratic Party. It is preferable, he argued, to be sent to an Indian agent operating in Kashmir as opposed to a Pakistani one.

He said that at public rallies in the next weeks, the People’s Democratic Party and the National Conference will be exposing one another and disclosing each other’s dark secrets. They would say everything that had never been spoken before. They would also disclose who met whom, when, and on what night throughout the course of these four years, Bukhari said. “They would disclose to one another their private discussions with the Union Home Minister. He said, “They would be disclosing to one other their interactions with different agencies.

“We are honored to be meeting in broad daylight with the Prime Minister and the Home Minister. When we first founded our own party, we went to see the Prime Minister, Bukhari said. “We realized that going to Delhi was the proper decision, so we did it. Shops were closed and there was little hope when we went there to request the release of young people, Bukhari said. He said that several people had informed him that they would be called “Indian agents.” “I told them it’s preferable than being referred to as Pakistani spies. We are happy if we are referred to be Indian agents for lessening the suffering of our people,” he said.

“I saw that several of my friends were very afraid to be around the president of the Apni Party. However, you are the ones that spoke out when no one else was. We failed to rescue 1200 young in these four years, he said, since 300 youth perished annually. He said that these young people were slain under the PDP and NC’s rule.

After Mehbooba Mufti’s 15-month incarceration and the August 5, 2019, abrogation of Article 370, a number of her party’s former ministers and MLAs split out to join the Apni Party. A group of prominent officials and former ministers led the first wave of PDP defectors in March 2020, joining Altaf Bukhari’s Apni Party. In the PDP’s previous coalition with the BJP, Bukhari held the position of Finance Minister.

At Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi on March 14, 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with a team of 24 members of the Jammu & Kashmir Apni Party, which was headed by Altaf Bukhari. This was the PM’s first encounter in person with a J&K political leader since Article 370 was repealed.

Glad to have met PM Shah

Former Finance Minister and Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari defended his choice to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi shortly after Article 370 was revoked, yet he also launched an assault on the National Conference and the People’s Democratic Party. Rather than a Pakistani agent, he continued, it is preferable to be sent to an Indian agent in Kashmir.
