NCRTC: “RRTS viaduct construction is expected to be completed by April.”

The Delhi leg of the Regional Rapid Transit System viaduct is expected to be finished by the end of April, according to a statement released on Friday by the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).

under the New Ashok Nagar-Sahibabad segment, track-laying, electric traction, and signaling work are all under progress, according to authorities.

According to them, the Delhi segment should be finished by the end of the year, opening the door for test runs between Delhi and Sahibabad.

The RRTS viaduct’s work in the Delhi segment is almost finished, the NCRTC officials said. With work expected to be finished by the end of this month, less than 500 meters of the viaduct remain in the Delhi segment. The length of the Delhi segment is around 14 kilometers, of which 9 km are on an elevated level and 5 km are below ground, according to an official.

In addition to the five kilometers of subterranean portion, the construction of almost eight kilometers of viaduct has already been finished. According to the authorities, the three mainline RRTS stations—Sarai Kale Khan, New Ashok Nagar, and Anand Vihar (underground)—have already begun to take form, and finishing work is already underway.

They said that when the Delhi segment is finished, passenger service from Sarai Kale Khan may be created up to and including the Sahibabad-Modi Nagar North stretch, which is now in operation.

In Delhi, there is a five-kilometer subterranean portion of the RRTS network. The official stated that four tunnels have been painstakingly built to connect the Anand Vihar underground station with the New Ashok Nagar RRTS station in the Delhi direction and the Sahibabad RRTS station in the Ghaziabad direction. The diameter of the RRTS tunnels is 6.5 meters, which is highly optimized in comparison to global benchmarks for similar design speeds of 180 kmph with wider and higher rolling stock.

One of the main areas of attention for RRTS implementation is multi-modal integration. They added that it is in line with the Gatishakti National Master Plan of the Prime Minister for multi-modal connectivity.

The RRTS is being implemented throughout the 82-km-long RRTS corridor with the goal of providing convenient travel experiences and improving last-mile connectivity for passengers within the NCR by facilitating seamless connectivity between various modes of transportation such as bus stands, metro stations, and railways, according to officers.

“Last-mile communication”

The goal of the Sarai Kale Khan station’s design is to improve last-mile connection for travelers within the National Capital Region by enabling smooth connectivity between different forms of transportation. Officers said that there are nearby transportation options include the Delhi Metro Pink Line, Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, and Veer Haqiqat Rai ISBT. At the station, there are six platforms on one level and four tracks, among other special characteristics. According to authorities, a 280-meter foot overbridge is being built to link the Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station with the RRTS station.
