“Not Paying Taxes is Depriving the Poor of Benefits,” Himanta Slams Congress

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attacked the Congress on Friday by claiming that the underprivileged are not receiving benefits because they are not paying taxes to the government.

In response, Sarma said that the Congress has received new letters from the I-T Department for payment of Rs 1,823.08 crore.

“The Congress is against welfare operations if they are not paying their fair share of taxes. They oppose the impoverished and the oppressed, he said.

The government needs tax revenue because it funds hospitals, schools, and universities. “Terror and tax are two different words,” the speaker said.

In addition, the Congress said that the BJP-led government was engaging in “tax terrorism” to financially destroy the opposition party in advance of the Lok Sabha elections.

Because tax money is used for public welfare, it is a good thing. Therefore, the warning to Congress is about tax compliance rather than tax terrorism, according to Sarma.

He said that the Congress party holds rallies against tax notifications on a daily basis.

“Rather than demonstrating every day, I propose that they go out and campaign for elections,” he said.
