On 77th Infantry Day, the Chief of Defense Staff places a wreath at the National War Memorial

General Anil Chauhan, the Chief of Defence Staff, placed a wreath at the National War Memorial in the nation’s capital on Friday in honor of the 77th Infantry Day.
Every year on October 27, the Indian army’s biggest armoury observes Infantry Day to honor the sacrifices and services made by this unit. The Indian Army arrived at Budgam on October 27, 1947, in order to protect Kashmir from Pakistani intruders. Since then, this day has been observed as Infantry Day.

It honors the ultimate sacrifice made by the troops who died defending the nation against the Pakistan Army’s invasion of Kashmir during its independence.

Rajnath Singh, the Union Minister of Defence, greeted the Indian army earlier today in honor of Infantry Day.

“Happy 77th Infantry Day, everyone serving in the Indian Army! Warm regards.” Singh said in a post on “X” that “They are the embodiment of bravery, sacrifice, selfless devotion to duty, and professionalism.”

He went on, “Let us not waver in our resolve to protect the integrity and sovereignty of our country.”

On this same day, General Manoj Pande also welcomed the Indian Army.

The Indian Army posted on “X” with a quote from General Manoj Pande, saying, “General Manoj Pande #COAS and All Ranks of #IndianArmy convey best wishes to All Ranks, #Veterans and Families of the #Infantry on the occasion of 77th #InfantryDay.”

On Infantry Day, Union Minister and former Army Chief General VK Singh (Retd) also sent greetings to the military.

“The Indian Army arrived at Budgam on October 27, 1947, to protect Kashmir from Pakistani intruders. #InfantryDay is observed on this day. General VK Singh (Retd) wrote on X, “I salute the Infantry men who give their all to protect the Nation.”
