Power and water subsidies to remain, disregard rumors: L-G

Claims that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s judicial detention is the reason for the termination of charity programs, like as “free” energy, water, and bus trips for women, were refuted by Lieutenant-Governor (L-G) VK Saxena on Saturday.

The “misleading statements” made by several ministers and members of political parties were taken seriously by Saxena, who referred to them as “patently false” and “deliberately misleading.” He made it clear that the programs are not dependent on any one person’s status and are instead sponsored by the NCT of Delhi’s consolidated treasury.

“None of the subsidy schemes benefiting the poor will be discontinued,” said Saxena. The rumors being propagated by political vested interests should not be taken seriously by the people of Delhi. The people themselves pay taxes to finance these initiatives.

“Any scheme, especially those approved by the Government of India and the L-G before being introduced in the Delhi Legislative Assembly, is unaffected by an individual being incarcerated,” he said.

“Being in judicial custody, as per due process of law, does not affect the schemes that have been duly approved by the government and the LG,” Saxena said, restating the Civil Administration’s position.

The CM has won: AAP

“It is a significant victory for CM Kejriwal that even while in jail he has compelled the L-G to say that work and free schemes will continue,” AAP minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said, referring to the L-G’s notice. For as long as Kejriwal is the chief minister, Delhi residents will have free healthcare in hospitals and mohalla clinics, as well as 24-hour electricity, water, and excellent schools for their kids.
