Punjab Government to Centre: CM Mann Doesn’t Need CRPF Personnel In ‘Z Plus’ Cover In Punjab, Delhi

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann does not need CRPF members to be a part of “Z-plus” security in Punjab and Delhi, according to a letter the Punjab administration sent to the Union Home Ministry.

It did indicate that Mann might get CRPF security in states outside than Punjab and Delhi, however.

The move comes a week after the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) granted CM Mann armed security protection of the “Z-plus” category in response to potential threats to him from both domestic and international sources.

According to official sources, CM Mann is already under the protection of the Punjab Police in both Punjab and Delhi.

They said that the state administration requested that the Centre send CRPF forces to other states to cover Mann’s security.

The Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) VIP security team was tasked with keeping the 49-year-old CM safe.

The MHA just granted the clearance for Mann to get top category “Z-plus” coverage across all of India.

According to the sources, the central intelligence and security services suggested such a security cover for Mann while they were putting up a “threat perception analysis” report for the chief minister in response to Khalistani operations in the border state.
