Punjab is in favor of Punjabi being spoken in court

The state administration has backed a public interest petition to make Punjabi the district courts’ official language. The government has responded to attorney HC Arora’s PIL, stating that it may be permitted. It has been further stated that the Department of Legal and Legislative Affairs’ notice of November 5, 2008, ought to be upheld in state courts.

The Punjab Vidhan Sabha overwhelmingly approved an official resolution on March 2, 2020, calling for the introduction of the Punjabi language into the state, according to the administration, bolstering their position. The High Court will now conduct a fresh hearing on the PIL on April 24.
