Punjab: Teachers anticipate a pay increase

About 10,000 families of staff members and retirees of the state’s government-aided private schools now perceive a glimmer of hope for the Sixth Pay Commission’s implementation before to the Lok Sabha elections, three years after its announcement in Punjab.

The Punjab Education Department’s senior officials were allegedly persuaded to begin the process of implementing the commission’s recommendations right away by the Punjab State Government Aided Private School Teachers and Other Employees Union.

According to reports, they have pushed Education Minister Harjot Bains and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to finish the process before imposing a code of conduct for the next local elections. According to Ravinderjit Puri, district president of the union, classical and vernacular (CV) teachers have an extra demand for payment of arrears of Rs 4,400 per month, as they have previously pledged.
