DGP: Police seized 60% of the proceeds from cybercrime

In their battle against cybercrime, the Haryana Police have made significant progress. In February, when complaints were filed within six hours of the crime, the police were able to effectively freeze 60% of the sum that was scammed.

In a Panchkula Police Headquarters meeting with key law enforcement officials, DGP Shatrujeet Kapur acknowledged the accomplishments and work of the Cyber Helpline Team-1930.

It became clear throughout the meeting that quick action was essential. 60% of the fraudulently obtained funds were immediately blocked as a result of the rapid resolution of reports received within six hours of the cybercrime. Nevertheless, just 19% of the complaints that were received after six hours could have their amounts frozen.

The Haryana Police, with 8.62 percent of the total, was rated 23rd in the nation in September 2023. But in February, with 27.60 percent of the total, it earned the nation’s top position. Cyber fraud in Haryana resulted in the saving of Rs 15.50 crore in February.

Kapur went over the current initiatives being taken to curb cybercrime. During the discussion, it was disclosed that the Haryana Police had successfully responded to complaints filed in the first six hours of February, preventing the loss of about Rs 6.67 crore.
