Returning to Balasore for a yoga day is Rail Minister Vaisnaw

Following a catastrophe involving three trains that lost more than 200 lives earlier this month, rail minister Ashwini Vaishnaw spent days overseeing the rescue effort in Balasore, Odisha. On Wednesday, he went back there to celebrate yoga day with 7,000 people, according to ministry officials.

In addition to taking part in the Rath Yatra on Tuesday, Vaishnaw, who is in the state for a three-day visit, also took the time to express his gratitude to everyone involved in the Bahanaga accident, including first responders, villagers, NGOs, district administration officials, and hospital personnel.

Additionally, Vaishnaw provided Rs 2 crore for hospital and village development.

According to the Railways, passengers aboard the Bhopal-Delhi-Bhopal Vande Bharat Express performed the first “yoga pranam” in time with the rising sun as part of the festivities for the International Day of Yoga.

The goal of the International Day of Yoga is to increase public awareness of yoga’s many advantages around the globe. The International Day of Yoga was declared by the United Nations in December 2014 in recognition of its widespread popularity.

On Wednesday, a large number of people attended the festivities, including chief ministers and ministers of the Union.

Greeting the populace on the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called the coming together of more than 180 nations at India’s request “historic” while on an official State Visit to the US.

Later in the day, Modi will preside over the International Day of Yoga festivities at the UN headquarters in New York.
