The Bannerghatta Biological Park in Bengaluru will shortly launch a leopard safari

The much anticipated and devoted leopard safari in Bannerghatta Biological Park is ready to begin, if all proceeds according to plan and the animals get along well.

The officials at BBP stated that everything depends on the animals’ bonding and rate of training, even though Minister of Forests, Environment, and Ecology Eshwar Khandre ordered the forest department and zoo management officials to begin the leopard safari as soon as possible, modeled after the lion and tiger safari. “If all goes according to plan, the safari might be accessible to visitors in a month and a half. However, if the model code of conduct is put into practice, it will be accessible to the public in May or after the code of conduct is withdrawn, a department official said, declining to be identified.

Twenty hectares of BBP property have been set aside for the safari. In an effort to prevent animal escape, the administration has installed high-rise mesh and maintained tall trees away from the fences.

Leopards are very nimble and challenging to handle, in contrast to tigers and lions. They discover every avenue of escape. Thus, while designing the enclosure, every possibility was considered. There is room for 20 leopards in the region, but there are now around 12 that are being gradually acclimated to one another to prevent conflict. The six leopards that have been maintained in captivity have split up into two groups. The official said, “They need time to settle in with the others.

The zoo hand raises all of the leopards that will be kept on exhibit, and they are all less than a year old. These are the ones that were saved when they were only two months old, and were carried by employees of the forest service or people from the fields.

Records state that there are 19 tigers, 19 lions, and 70 leopards in BBP.

More employees will be employed, and offenders will suffer severe penalties

Khandre gave the authorities of the forest department instructions to recruit additional employees, including temporary employees, during their meeting. Additionally, he gave the authorities instructions to make sure they get their salaries promptly. He gave the authorities instructions to make sure that staff members of the special task forces get their salaries on time.

In addition, he ordered authorities to take harsh measures against anyone found responsible and forewarned miscreants of the grave implications of setting fire to woods. The minister also instructed the authorities to make the joint survey report on forest encroachment available to the public for everyone to see.
