The Indian Air Force wants to get locally made Rafale components
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has started a quest to find some locally sourced parts for the heavy-lift Chinook helicopter and front-line fighter plane Rafale.
The 3 Base Repair Depot of the Indian Air Force, located in Chandigarh, has invited the Society of Indian Defense Manufacturers (SIDM) to a conference. A meeting date is set for the following month.
The industry has received a list of specific things from the IAF, and they are asking whether anybody can manufacture them in India. The majority of the things on the list are parts—such as engines, onboard computer hardware, or software—that are changed after a certain amount of time and do not constitute operating systems. A few more are pieces of auxiliary gear that are not necessary for functioning.
The Indian Air Force has furnished a roster of fifty-two Rafale components that are sourced from the Indian industry. Regarding the Chinook, the Indian Air Force is seeking to get 27 components from India.
The list of components “is a requirement of the IAF that it believes can be sourced from India,” according to sources. For the Rafale and Chinook, the requirements must adhere to the initial criteria established by Dassault and Boeing, respectively.
