The Kolkata Metro’s Beleghata-Ruby Section Is Inspected; Here’s Why

On Friday, authorities claimed that Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety Janak Kumar Garg examined the Beleghata-Ruby segment of the Airport-New Garia line of the Kolkata Metro. They added that speed testing was also carried out on the 4.4-kilometer segment situated above ground along the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass during the examination.

Following the inspection, Garg expressed his approval, according to a statement released by Kolkata Metro. According to the report, he examined the signal equipment room, ticketing system, escalators, elevators, sign boards, electronic interlocking (EI) system, and entrance and exit gates of the VIP Bazar, Beleghata, Barun Sengupta, and Ritwik Ghatak stations.

According to the statement, Garg also inspected the trolleys on the section leading up to the Hemanta Mukhopadhyay station. Additionally, he met at a high level with representatives of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), the company developing the 30-kilometer Orange Line, and Kolkata Metro.

The 6-km stretch of the line, which runs from the Kavi Subhash station in New Garia to the Hemanta Mukhopadhyay station at Ruby Crossing, was officially opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this month. Before any metro or railroad project can be put into service, the CCRS must provide its approval.

When asked when the public would be able to use the part, a Metro representative said.
