There will be a rehabilitation program for sufferers of land subsidence

Atal Dulloo, the chief secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, called a high-level conference on Tuesday to discuss the steps taken for relief and rehabilitation in the region impacted by the recent soil subsidence in the Ramban district.

Discussions of the impacted population’s rehabilitation were also covered during the meeting. It was the relevant DC’s and the Divisional Commissioner’s responsibility to draft an appropriate restoration plan, taking the ground conditions into account. They were even urged to include the Red Cross and SDRF in order to provide the displaced people with immediate assistance.

The Divisional and District Administrations were questioned by the Chief Secretary on their relief and restoration efforts on behalf of the impacted populace. In the transit accommodations, he requested that sufficient provisions be made for beds, food, power, drinking water, medical assistance, sanitary facilities, and other amenities. In accordance with protocol, he demanded that everyone work together to provide the impacted parties with emergency aid.

He also asked the district and divisional administrations for their opinions on the state of the services that are offered in the impacted region. In addition to attending to medical problems, he requested the officers to look into the potential of building a road connection with the regions that were cut off during the conflict to ensure seamless deliveries.

In addition to evaluating the state of health services and ration distribution via various healthcare institutions and fair price stores in the region, the Chief Secretary took stock of the damage done to the water and electricity infrastructure. He urged the relevant authorities to initiate the necessary actions to restore the infrastructure while also developing backup plans until it is fully restored.

The impacted individuals were notified about the actions being taken by the local authority. Furthermore, the conference was told that the government is conducting research in the region with the help of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and the Geological Survey of India (GSI) in order to determine the reasons for the land sinking in Ramban and suggest preventative measures.
