Union Home Secy Border Management is given extra responsibility to Ajay Bhalla

According to a formal announcement from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the Center on Wednesday gave Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla, lAS, the additional responsibility of the office of Secretary, Department of Border Management, effective immediately.

According to the DoPT statement, Bhalla would assume the extra role until a regular incumbent is appointed or until further instructions are given.

Bhalla was previously granted a one-year extension to August 22, 2024, according a notice released by the DoPT.

The officer’s set two-year tenure expired in November 2020, at which point he was expected to retire from the military. However, on October 17, 2020, an order prolonged his term until August 22, 2021.

Two further one-year extensions were granted to him till August 22 of this year.
