Will look into this as soon as the Chhattisgarh government is formed: On Jheeram Ghati atrocity, former chief minister Raman Singh

Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh said that the Jheeram Ghati massacre case would be looked into as soon as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) administration takes power in the state, after the Supreme Court’s rejection of the NIA’s plea for a probe into the incident.

On December 3, the results of the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections will be tallied.

The National Investigative Agency’s (NIA) appeal against the Chhattisgarh police’s investigation into the 2013 Jheeram Ghati murders of Congress leaders in the state was denied by the top court on Tuesday.

For five years, the Congress administration presided over Chhattisgarh. The individual who said to have evidence in his pocket for five years did not produce all of those records throughout that time. When the BJP administration is established in the near future, this issue would be looked into right away, Raman Singh said on Tuesday.

The NIA appeal on the 2013 Jheeram Ghati massacre was denied by a bench consisting of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Mishra.

The State Police filed a formal report (FIR) in response to a complaint made by the son of a Congress politician who passed away, alleging that the NIA neglected to look into a more extensive political plot.

For the NIA, Additional Solicitor General SV Raju made an appearance. The State of Chhattisgarh was represented by attorneys ANS Nadkarni and Sumeer Sodhi, who informed the court that the NIA had closed the file and had not looked into the “political conspiracy” theory since 2013.

The Supreme Court was told that, since the NIA was failing to carry out its duties, even the previous political administration had written to the Central Government in 2016 requesting that the CBI begin a probe.

On May 25, 2013, a convoy accompanied by senior Congress leaders, including Vidyacharan Shukla, Nandkumar Patel, Mahendra Karma, and several others, including members of the security forces, was ambushed by Naxals in the Jheeram Valley in the Bastar district.
