The BJP requests that the Election Commission punish Rahul Gandhi harshly for his comments on “match-fixing.”

With regard to the “match-fixing” accusations and other remarks that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made during an INDIA bloc rally here one day ago, the BJP demanded the Election Commission to take the “strictest action” on Monday.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Arun Kumar, the national general secretary of the BJP, filed the complaint against Gandhi with the electoral body on behalf of the party.

Speaking to the media after his meeting with Election Commission representatives, Puri described the former Congress chief’s remarks made at the open meeting as “extremely objectionable” since they not only went against the model code of conduct but also had potentially dire consequences.

Speaking at the public gathering yesterday, Rahul Gandhi said that the Lok Sabha elections are predetermined. Additionally, he said that personnel from the central government have been sent to the Election Commission. In addition, he questioned the validity of the EVMs and said that the Constitution will be revoked or altered after the elections, as he informed reporters.

Puri said, “We insisted that the Election Commission take the strongest possible action against Rahul Gandhi, other Congress leaders, and members of the opposition’s India alliance.”

Kumar stated that Gandhi has made similar statements on many occasions and that the Congressman would not stop, therefore, the Election Commission needs to think about banning him from speaking during the Lok Sabha polls.
