Women Have Achieved So Much, As President Murmu Says in “Missile to Music”

On Monday, President Droupadi Murmu praised “Nari Shakti” and noted that despite overcoming many obstacles, women had achieved tremendous heights in a variety of sectors, from “missile to music.” She was speaking at an AWWA (Army Wives Welfare Association) event that was taking place at the Manekshaw Center.

The president remarked, “I convey my appreciation to everyone “Veer Naris” for their participation and appreciate the work of the AWWA. An entrepreneur married to an army officer and a teacher from Jharkhand, both known as “Veer Naris,” told harrowing and heartbreaking experiences of their lives and how they overcame obstacles with tenacity and a spirit of resilience.

We heard two sad tales today, or maybe we should say two stories of courage and persistence, and it gave Murmu shivers. She said that is why it is named Nari Shakti. The adage “behind every successful man, there is a woman” is an ancient one, but now, according to President Murmu, it should read “beside every successful man, there is a woman.”

The president praised “Nari Shakti” in her speech and emphasized the contributions made by women to the advancement of society and the country as a whole. “Women have accomplished great heights, facing and overcoming all odds, from missiles to music,” she remarked.

In her speech, AWWA president Archana Pande praised Murmu for her achievements and said that she “exemplified ‘Nari Shakti'” herself. Prior to the event, President Murmu was shown around a number of kiosks set up by members of the organization that supports female empowerment via entrepreneurship and self-reliance. The ceremony was also attended by Meenakashi Lekhi, the minister of state for external affairs and culture, and Sudesh Dhankhar, the wife of vice president Jagdeep Dhankhar.
