at the fifth test against England, Devdutt Padikkal will make his test debut at Dharamsala: Report

New Delhi: India has already won three of the last four Test matches against England, securing the current Test series. It is now expected that both teams will square off in the fifth Test match, which will take place in Dharamsala’s HPCA Stadium.

In addition to the large number of rookies and young players in this Indian squad, there are now rumors that in-form Ranji batter Devdutt Padikkal will make his Test debut against England in the next Test match.

Due to injury, wicketkeeper batsman KL Rahul, who played in the first Test match against England, has missed all of the matches and will have less time to recover before the next Test match in Dharamsala.

The Indian Test-bound team has won the fourth Test match and is presently taking a rest. The squad will now gather on Saturday before the fifth Test match in Chandigarh.

The absence of former India captain KL Rahul makes Virat Kohli the best option to bat at No. 4, but because he is still recuperating from an injury, BCCI added Rajat Patidar. Kohli has withdrawn from the Test series due to personal reasons.

The batsman from Madhya Pradesh made his debut in the second Test match held in Vizag. He played a brilliant maiden innings, scoring 32 runs with ease. After then, Patidar’s performance was below expectations; in the next five innings, he scored nine, five, zero, seventeen, and zero.

In order for Patidar to play domestic cricket for his state, the selectors plan to remove him from the Test team before Madhya Pradesh’s match against Vidarhbha in the Ranji Trophy semifinal on Saturday.

Padikkal will make his debut in this scene and become the sixth Indian player to do so in the current Test series against England. Patidar, fast bowler Akash Deep, hitter Sarfaraz Khan, and keeper Dhurv Jurel are the other debutants in this series.

“Dharamsala will be the place of Padikkal’s debut. Since it’s the final international match before the IPL, Rahul is probably not going to be available, and the team management wants to check out Padikkal, a BCCI insider informed Hindustan Times.
