Bajrang Punia, an Olympic medallist, accuses the National Anti-Doping Agency of using outdated testing equipment

Bajrang Punia, an Indian wrestler who placed third in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, said that the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) was testing athletes for doping using antiquated and expired equipment. Punia said that he was visited by NADA officials for a test but that the equipment was out of date in a video that he shared on social media.

The wrestler asked the authorities to investigate the situation after he displayed the vials and syringes that the officials were carrying. Along with the complete video, he also included a mention of NADA in his social media post.

We should all view and give careful thought to this extremely important film. How can one trust the system if protocols are not being adhered to? How can it be ensured that the whole procedure is free from manipulation? Anyone may experience this, particularly young athletes. Please be aware of your rights and the doping process. Punia said on X (previously Twitter): “We implore the relevant authorities to take the appropriate measures and ask the athletes to be vigilant and use extreme care during such operations.

Punia was also audible in the video stating that he places no responsibility on the authorities.

In a criminal defamation case brought by coach Naresh Dahiya, who accused the top wrestler of damaging his reputation with his remarks made during the protest against federation president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, Punia was earlier granted bail by a Delhi court.

Bajrang had said that Dahiya lacked credibility to oppose the agitation since he was dealing with his rape case during the wrestlers’ protest.

After that, Dahiya petitioned the court, and Bajrang—who had just lost at the Asian Games and wasn’t awarded a medal—was called to appear.

“Bajrang skipped the first three sessions after requesting a waiver from having to present in person. He made a physical appearance today, and the judge released him on bond. Following the hearings, attorney Rajesh Kumar Rexwal, who represented Dahiya, informed PTI that the next hearing date was March 5.
