Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho goals give Manchester United a friendly victory over Arsenal in their matchup with Arsenal

Manchester United and Erik ten Hag defeated Premier League rivals Arsenal 2-0 in a friendly to kick off their preseason trip in style.

In front of a record-breaking crowd of 82,262 spectators at the Metlife Stadium on Saturday, United captain Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho scored goals as the Red Devils overcame the Gunners.

The two Premier League clubs’ supporters from New York and New Jersey saw an exciting first half with both goals, but the game stalled in the second half due to several replacements from both sides.

Despite accompanying the team in the United States, Manchester United supporters were unable to view their new Cameroonian goalkeeper, Andre Onana, who was acquired from Inter Milan on Thursday for £44 million.

substitute goaltender Fernandes assumed the captain’s position in place of defender Harry Maguire, while Tom Heaton began in goal.

The Gunners defeated the MLS All Stars 5-0 to kick off their US trip on Wednesday. Gabriel Martinelli came close to scoring the first goal, but Tom Heaton made a superb double save to stop the Brazilian.

Aaron Ramsdale of Arsenal was fooled by Fernandes’ low left-footed shot as United seized the lead after 30 minutes but Arsenal failed to take use of their opportunities.

Seven minutes later, England forward Sancho increased the advantage when Arsenal defender Gabriel miskicked on the halfway line, allowing Sancho to elude his defenders and send the ball home with assurance.
