Daren Sammy, Ian Bishop, and Other West Indies Supporters’ Disappointed Reactions After Missing Out on Qualifying for the 2023 World Cup

The West Indies were dealt a severe setback on Saturday as they were not selected for the ODI World Cup for the first time ever. The two-time World Champions lost badly to Scottland in the 2023 ODI WC qualifier, and they were disqualified from the prestigious ICC competition that will take place in India later this year.

Prior to then, the Windies’ Super Over loss to the Netherlands made things harder, but they still had a slight chance. In their 50 overs, the Caribbean team was dismissed for 181, and Scotland finished the job in Harare with 6.3 overs remaining.

In a video that the International Cricket Council shared on Instagram, a number of former West Indies cricket players and supporters seemed discouraged.

Daren Sammy, the head coach of the West Indies, and former cricketers turned commentators Carlos Braithwaite and Ian Bishop can all be seen in the video seeming utterly dumbfounded by the outcome that didn’t go their way.

Chris Gayle, the legendary West Indies starter, also left a comment on the article with the message, “Delete this post! I’m grateful.

One of the sport’s stalwarts will be conspicuously absent from the world’s premier one-day event, which will be hosted in India from October 5 to November 19.

With a maiden one-day international victory over their opponents, Scotland exacted vengeance for the West Indies’ agonizing and contentious defeat in the last World Cup Qualifier in 2018, which caused them to miss out on the main competition.

They now behind Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka in the fight to qualify for the World Cup. Only the top two qualifying teams will be allowed to participate in the ODI World Cup in India.

In an effort to revitalize the team, CWI named Darren Sammy head coach, but nothing came of it.West Indies did had four points after defeating the USA (by 35 runs) and Nepal (by 101 runs), but things quickly fell apart due to subpar play in all areas.
