Indian Tennis Men’s Doubles Team Ramnathan and Myneni Accept Silver At Asian Games 2023

After a tense final, Indian tennis players Ramkumar Ramanathan and Saketh Myneni won the silver medal in the men’s doubles competition at the Asian Games. Hsu Yu-Hsiou and Jason Jung, the unseeded pair from Chinese Taipei, defeated the Indian couple by a narrow margin because to their better talent and game plan.

Despite not being seeded, Hsu and Jung demonstrated their skill with powerful serves, brisk net play, and potent groundstrokes. In the final match, they defeated the second-seeded Indian pair 6-4, 6-4.

This silver medal was earned by Saketh Myneni, who had previously won a men’s doubles silver and a mixed doubles gold at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon. Ramkumar Ramanathan won his first medal at the Asian Games. Additionally, the silver marks India’s first tennis medal at the Asian Games this year.

The Indian team recognized the importance of playing in the Asian Games despite the fact that they lost. They also expressed their delight at earning a gold for India. Ramkumar Ramanathan emphasized the significance of every competition in their line of work and expressed excitement about winning further medals for their nation in upcoming tournaments.

Both teams displayed great serving prowess in the tightly fought final, but it was Hsu and Jung who finally secured the match-winning break. The Taipei team’s steady play at the net and baseline ultimately proved to be the decisive factor in the match, despite the Indian pair saving several break points.

Indian tennis will continue to have a significant presence at the Asian Games if Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale can win a medal in the mixed doubles competition.
