IPL 2024: Abhishek Sharma of SRH finally validates the trust

Sunrisers Hyderabad will be most happy with how Abhishek Sharma played against the Mumbai Indians out of all the performances on Wednesday night. The left-hander, 23, broke the record for the quickest fifty runs for the Sunrisers, and his 16-ball performance won him player of the match.
Abhishek is among the few homegrown talents. SRH has stuck with Abdul Samad, Rahul Tripathi, and Mayank Markande despite their poor performance since he joined them in 2019.

Prior to being abandoned, Priyam Garg was also pursued. The decision seems to have paid off this time.
After a successful domestic season, Abhishek seemed to be a much improved player. With two tonnes and three fifties in ten innings, he was the second-highest scorer for Punjab (485 runs) with a strike rate of 192 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20.
Abhishek seemed to have benefited by batting at No. 3 rather than starting, as he seemed to enjoy Travis Head’s company. The domestic season offers us a great deal of assurance. It was fun to bat with Head. Among my favourite hitters is him. If it was in my zone, he advised me to go for it. Even simply receiving my opportunities makes me happy. Whichever position I play, it doesn’t matter,” Abhishek said.

Talking to Brian Lara was also beneficial. Despite Abhishek’s mediocre achievements, Lara, the batting instructor and head coach of SRH for the previous two seasons, had nothing but good things to say about him in all of his media appearances.
Abhishek scored 426 runs at an average of 30.43 and a strike rate of 133 in 14 games in 2022, including two fifties. He batted down the order in 11 matches in 2023, scoring 226 runs. “I spoke with Brian Lara last night, and it greatly aided me,” Abhishek said after tinkering with the MI attack.
