IPL 2024 will see Rishabh Pant lead the Delhi Capitals

Rishabh Pant will captain the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024, according to information released on Friday by co-owner Parth Jindal.

After Pant was injured, Australian cricketer David Warner led the squad in the 2023 Indian Premier League.

Jindal also said that the South African fast bowler, who has been out for a considerable amount of time due to injury, would shortly return to the DC camp in Vishakhapatnam.

“Rishabh Pant will not keep wickets in the initial part of the IPL 2024, but he will be the pure batter and captain of the DC side,” the co-owner of the team said in an interview with ESPN.

“We anticipate Pant to be fully fit. He is batting, running, and practicing wicketkeeping,” Jindal said in closing.

The 33-year-old said, “He (Nortje) is healthy; I am confident that he will join the camp in Vishakhapatnam,” in response to a question about his availability. The fast bowler from South Africa has been bowling at an intensity of 80% so far, but he plans to bowl at 100% the next week.

Before departing for personal reasons in the IPL 2023, the 30-year-old participated in 10 matches. DC made the decision to keep him before the IPL 2024 auctions.

In the IPL 2024, English batsman Harry Brook would bat at No. 6 for the DC, according to the general director of JSW Cement.

Notably, the first half of the IPL schedule was revealed on Thursday, and it shows that DC will play three away games and two home games at Vishakhapatnam.
