Jos Buttler Will Receive A Lucrative Multi-Year Contract From The Rajasthan Royals, Per Report

According to a Thursday article in the British daily “Telegraph,” Rajasthan Royals of the Indian Premier League are prepared to provide England’s limited overs captain Jos Buttler an attractive multi-year deal.

There is an immediate threat to the game’s current structure due to concerns that many top international players may forego their central contracts in favour of signing deals with a single club (franchise) that are similar to those of a football club in order to participate in various tournaments. The majority of IPL franchises own partial or full stakes in various private T20 leagues.

The Telegraph reports that RR is attempting to lock Buttler down to a longer-term contract, but the offer has not yet been officially presented and it is unclear if the player would accept it.

The article said that Rajasthan Royals, Jos Buttler’s Indian Premier League team, “is set to offer him a landmark four-year deal.”

The offer to Buttler has not yet been officially presented, and it is unknown whether the T20 World Cup winning skipper would accept the offer.

Although the precise sum is undisclosed, the sale is worth several million pounds.

Since joining RR in 2018, Buttler has established himself as a run-machine, scoring five tonnes and 18 half-centuries in 71 games.

Buttler also participates in the SA20 for Paarl Royals, a team that is a subsidiary of Rajasthan Royals. Barbados Royals of the Caribbean Premier League are also owned by RR.

International cricket has been influenced by the growth of T20 league, with clubs now providing elite players long-term contracts.

Recently, there have been rumours that Jofra Archer, a great bowler for England who was acquired for Rs 8 Crore in the 2022 auction, may sign a multi-year deal with the five-time IPL champion Mumbai Indians.

The international cricket boards may in the future need to get permission from the private franchises to use a player’s services for national duty if they sign a long-term contract.
