“Kisiko Fark Nahi Padta, Gill Might Leave Someday”: The star player talks on Hardik Pandya’s departure from the Gujarat Titans

The fans saw a tremendous upheaval before to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 when skipper Hardik Pandya quit the Gujarat Titans to rejoin the Mumbai Indians. The stunning revelation was not lost on fans of either series. While some MI fans were shocked that Rohit would no longer be captain of the team, GT supporters were sad to lose a championship-winning captain in Pandya.

The Titans selected rookie batsman Shubman Gill as their new captain after Pandya left. Mohammed Shami, the team’s best bowler, offered his thoughts on this significant transition in the interim. Right-arm quick said in an interview with News24 that these kinds of maneuvers are typical for players starting out in their careers.

“You see, it doesn’t matter who is leaving,” said Kisike Jane. You must observe the balance of the team. Hardik was present, and he led us well. We were able to win once after he led us to the final in both occasions. However, Gujarat has never signed Hardik before. He may choose to remain or go at this point. Now that Shubman is captain, he will get experience as well. He too could go someday. It also plays a role in the game. Participants come and go, Shami said to News24.

The seasoned bowler went on to say that a captain must simultaneously manage his own performance and his own wants. Gill may be carrying a “mental load,” he said, but the child shouldn’t be concerned.

“It’s crucial to manage the responsibilities and focus on your performances while serving as captain. And Shubman has been given that task this time around. Though the players are essentially the same, he may be carrying some weight. Thus, he need not be concerned. You must effectively manage your players and bring out the best in them.

With the Gujarat Titans, Gill enjoyed a tremendous season in 2017—scoring an incredible 890 runs in 17 games and taking home the Orange Cap. In 2022, the team’s first season, he was one of the best scorers on the team. He finished IPL 2022 as the fifth-highest run scorer of the season with 483 runs scored in 16 games.
