Prior to the India match, Shakib Al Hasan will have another fitness test. IND vs BAN, ICC World Cup 2023

Before facing India at the MCA Stadium in Pune for the ICC World Cup 2023, Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan will have another fitness test on Thursday.

Shakib is not currently experiencing any discomfort, according to Team Director Khalid, but he is not running quickly either since his fitness is being closely watched. At the site, the last examination will be conducted before a choice is made.

He is OK; he feels no pain or discomfort, yet he is not moving quickly. For the game, we must assess his readiness. We have made the decision to test him on the ground before making a decision,” Khalid told Zee News.

The two-time IPL champion suffered a left quadriceps injury last Friday against New Zealand. After complete his 10-over session, he was sent to the hospital for an MRI. Since there are still many matches left in the competition, the Bangladesh team management is unwilling to take any chances if Shakib is not fully healthy.

On Wednesday, Bangladesh coach Chandika Hathurusinghe said that Shakib would only participate in the game provided the medical staff gave him a 100% fitness rating. In the pre-game news conference, he said, “If he is not ready, we will not take the risk of sending him in.

Shakib, a strong all-around player for Bangladesh, struck a critical 40 against New Zealand and grabbed 3-30 in the victory against Afghanistan.

On Tuesday, the 36-year-old took part in a long batting practice session in the nets and even performed some jogging. He did not, however, bowl.

The Bangladeshi coach, a former Sri Lankan player, acknowledged that his team’s hitting unit hasn’t played to its full potential but expressed optimism that they will succeed against India on Thursday.

In this respect, Hathurusinghe said that the pitch for the match on Thursday was the finest batting strip they had so far and expressed his optimism that his hitters will take full advantage of the situation.

He said that they are focusing on their own procedures rather than the Indian squad. He emphasized that they should focus on doing their best work rather than worrying about outside factors.

He said that factors such as prior performance and current success would not affect the match and that what would count more is whether of the two sides is able to give its all throughout the contest.
