Real Madrid is becoming adept at scoring goals when you least expect them

Real Madrid has perfected the art of surprising people.

It was certain that Bayern Munich would score in Tuesday’s Champions League semifinal match because of its overwhelming dominance. Instead, Madrid struck.

In the 24th minute, Vinícius Júnior took advantage of a wonderful ball from Toni Kroos to score the opening goal for the visitors.

Kroos said, “I am aware that Vin would rather have the ball in space than at his feet.” Then he initiates action. With his run, he makes the pass simple for me.

Bayern midfielder Leon Goretzka said after the clubs’ 2-2 draw that competitors are aware of Madrid’s ability to score goals out of nothing.

Goretzka said, “We let Vinícius out of our eye for a little while and then there was a huge hole.” “It didn’t feel like something dangerous might happen, but that’s a real quality, so you have to be prepared for anything at all times.”

Although Bayern had a 14–8 advantage in possession and goal attempts, the two-leg series is still very much up in the air until the semifinal rematch in Madrid the following week.

“We faced Paris in the previous season as well, featuring players of extraordinary talent like Neymar and Kylian Mbappé,” Goretzka said. “When they’re at the front, it becomes quite hazardous. You must constantly have a strong defense in place, and you cannot, of course, advance without thinking.”

After Vinícius opened the goal, Madrid may have scored more as the home team’s dominance had diminished and Bayern’s confidence was shaken.

After a brilliant stop by Manuel Neuer to deny Kroos, Leroy Sané equalized with a hard shot inside the right post, and then Harry Kane scored a penalty kick for Bayern to put Madrid ahead.

After leveling the score with a beautiful penalty conversion late in the game, Vinícius scored again.

Vinícius said, “Real Madrid always makes moves.” “We now need to focus for the next 90 minutes at the Bernabéu, or 120 if necessary.”

The victor will face either Paris Saint-Germain or Borussia Dortmund in the final on June 1 in London. On Wednesday, Dortmund and PSG were scheduled to play the first leg of their semifinal at Dortmund.
