Sanju Samson Is Prepared For The World Cup: Kaif Is ‘Massively Impressed’ By The Wicketkeeper-Batter’s Fifty In The Third ODI

In the second and third one-day internationals versus West Indies, India experimented with a variety of lineups, but the Asia Cup will provide a clearer image of the Men in Blue’s ODI starting 11. Sanju Samson, a talented batsman, had a chance in the last two ODIs of the series and delivered a memorable performance of 51 off 41 balls, solidifying his position as a strong candidate for the World Cup team.

As Samson’s fifty came under strain in the series-deciding match against the West Indies, former India batsman Mohammad Kaif believes that Samson is prepared to compete in the ODI World Cup this year.

The seasoned player also warned that inserting middle-order batsmen Axar Patel and wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan into the team’s ODI lineup is not a good idea.

“Samson has really impressed me. At the book launch ceremony on Wednesday in New Delhi, Kaif was cited by PTI as saying, “He played an impacting knock, whether at four or five, he has done it in the past.

“It’s not a good idea to send Kishan or Axar Patel in the middle order. Samson is the person you need who can play left-arm spin and leg spin. He is prepared for the World Cup, but his third ODI knock was under pressure.

In the three-match series, India’s openers were Shubman Gill and Kishan, and it was their sole reliable batting position throughout. As part of India’s experimental plan, all batters were required to rotate their batting role during the series.

After a lengthy absence of more than 10 months, Indian spinner Jasprit Bumrah will captain India in the three T20Is against Ireland. The pacer will demonstrate his fitness on the tour before to the important competitions.

If Bumrah is unable to compete in the championship match, according to Kaif, India will not win the World Cup at home. In addition, he pointed out that they are not a good squad on paper without Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul.

“The injured players’ return will have a significant impact on India’s hopes in the World Cup. After a protracted injury layoff, Bumrah is finally returning, so we shall learn how fit he is. To do well at home during the World Cup, India needs a completely healthy Bumrah. You are not allowed to have two teams bowling. We will lose, just as we did in the 2022 T20 World Cup and the Asia Cup T20. We don’t have his support,” the 42-year-old man added.

The greatest aspect, according to him, is Bumrah. “At the present, the squad does not appear the best on paper since it is missing important players like K L Rahul, Pant, and Iyer.
