“Recollections of the 2015 World Cup Are Returning”: Umesh Yadav Is Happy to See Mohit Sharma and Shami Again

Umesh Yadav, who is expected to sign with the Gujarat Titans for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, has reconnected with his teammates from the 2015 ICC ODI World Cup, Mohammed Shami and Mohit Sharma. The club hopes to add Indian firepower to its pace attack by purchasing the seasoned bowler for an incredible INR 5.8 crore. With an average of 30.04, the 36-year-old has taken 136 wickets in 141 IPL games.

Yadav, who has played for teams such as the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, and Kolkata Knight Riders in the past, said that ever since he was selected by the Titans in the IPL 2024 players’ auction, he has been thinking back to the World Cup of 2015.

“Shami, Mohit Sharma, and I were not a part of the 2015 World Cup team for a long time. Those recollections are returning. We’re going to have a great time, based on the way Shami is now bowling. He will likely be bowling with the new ball since we have a rapport with the red ball. Thus, Umesh informed JioCinema, “We will need to focus on middle-overs techniques.

Yadav will be relocating to GT after being released by the KKR, and adjusting to a new camp will undoubtedly be difficult. However, the seasoned fast bowler thinks that having Sharma and Shami around would make things simple for him.

“You’re dealing with a new team, new management, and a new setting. It is necessary to take into account each of these aspects. It takes me some time to let folks in. However, I believe that with Shami and Mohit in the lineup, this will be my strongest squad. We’ll get to play together, and they are some of my old buddies,” Umesh said.

Ashish Nehra, coach, is highly praised.

The right-arm fast is excited to collaborate with Ashish Nehra, who led GT to their first-ever championship victory in their first campaign.

“Getting chosen was the most important thing to me. Going to a team where Ashish Nehra is the coach is fantastic, but I knew I would go someplace since I knew all the teams were seeking Indian fast bowlers. Umesh said, “I have worked with him before and am familiar with how he develops players and controls the environment in the locker room.
