Report: Virat Kohli Withdraws From England’s Final Three Tests

Virat Kohli, the batting guru, has allegedly withdrawn from the series, thus India may be without him for the last three Test matches against England. Due to personal issues, Kohli was unable to attend the first two Tests of the series, and it now seems like India will have to play without him in the remaining games.

In an online meeting on Friday, Kohli reportedly told the team selectors that he had made the decision to remove his name from the remaining matches, which are scheduled to be played in Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamsala, according to an Indian Express article.

Prior to the Hyderabad Test, three days before it began, Kohli withdrew his name for personal reasons despite having been selected for the first two Test teams.

The BCCI’s sole statement on Kohli was a media advisory sent on January 22, informing reporters of the former captain of India’s withdrawal from the first two Test matches, which were held in Hyderabad and Vizag, respectively.

Citing personal concerns, Mr. Virat Kohli has asked to be removed from the first two Test matches of the forthcoming IDFC First Bank Test series against England by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

According to a BCCI statement, “Virat has informed Captain Rohit Sharma, the team management, and the selectors that, although serving his country has always been his first priority, certain personal situations demand his presence and undivided attention.”

The selectors are still expecting KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja’s fitness clearance, after they missed the Vizag Test owing to injury, therefore they haven’t revealed the roster for the last three Tests.

The selectors’ delayed announcement of the team was due to our waiting for details and approvals about KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja. Before choosing the lineup for the series, it’s critical to have a complete understanding of both of these significant individuals, a BCCI official told News18 CricketNext.

Shreyas Iyer, a middle-order batsman, is also anticipated to miss the rest of the series because, according to CricketNext, his poor batting form—rather than a health issue—has placed him in the firing line.
