Semi-final matchup between Grigor Dimitrov and Zverev at the Miami Open is set

Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria defeated world number two Carlos Alcaraz 6-2, 6-4 on Thursday to send him out of the Miami Open quarterfinals.

After defeating the top-seeded Spanish player, Dimitrov will play Alexander Zverev of Germany in the championship round.

Zverev of Germany defeated rising Hungarian Fabian Marozsan 6-3, 7-5, to secure his semifinal spot.

The second semifinal matchup is Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev, a replay of Sinner’s victory in the Australian Open final in January.

Alcaraz entered Miami with his eyes set on the “Sunshine Double” after winning at Indian Wells.

However, Dimitrov, who defeated Alcaraz in the Shanghai fourth round as well, showed no fear at all as he attacked the Brazilian and broke quickly to take a 3-0 lead.

The Bulgarian took advantage of every chance, often visiting the net and circulating Alcaraz about the court.

He broke the Spaniard in the fourth game and held for a 4-1 lead, seeming to be well on his way to an easy two-set win.

But Alcaraz was not prepared to give up, coming back to win 4-3 after nailing a thrilling comeback that ended with a cross-court winner.

Now that the game was back on serve, a tie-break seemed likely. However, Dimitrov broke Alcaraz, who was serving to remain in the game, when the Spaniard went wide, and Dimitrov raised his arms in excitement.

You have to play at your very best to defeat him. That’s the reality, Dimitrov said.

“I entered the match with a very strong sense of purpose and knew exactly what I had to achieve. There are moments when simplicity is brilliance. It’s quite difficult to do, particularly when playing against a foe of such caliber. However, I was able to effectively control the game.

In all honesty, I had an absolutely fantastic match. And for once, I’m simply glad I did it in straight sets,” he said in jest.

Alcaraz acknowledged that he was unable to match Dimitrov’s outstanding performance.

“I’m really frustrated with him because he made me feel like a thirteen-year-old.” It was wild, you know,” Alcaraz said.

“I was stating to my team that I’m not sure what has to be done. You know, I have no idea what his vulnerability is. I have no knowledge at all. That’s the reason I’m now frustrated.

Alcaraz claimed he felt he had performed better than when he had lost against the Bulgarian in October in Shanghai.

“Compared to now, I made more errors in the first and second balls in China. He performed even better today, in my opinion. He was a terrific player. I was unable to solve any problems in today’s game. “His game was flawless,” he said.

Fiveth in the world Zverev knew he had to be cautious around Marozsan, who was rated 57th but was moving up into the top 40 after defeating Holger Rune and Alex de Minaur to win two of the tournament’s top ten spots.

However, in the first set, the Hungarian found it difficult to handle Zverev’s massive serve and lost his rhythm.

In the second set, there wasn’t much to decide between the two as the Hungarian continued to put pressure on Zverev.

However, Marozsan was broken in his last serve game and lost several critical points while rushing to the net late in the set.

Zverev was thrilled to be able to compete again in the championship game.

“Obviously, I’m pleased to be back at these late rounds of tournaments, playing the top players in the world, because I mean, I love Miami, as I’ve always said. He said, “I believe there are just those remaining, and I’m excited about the task.

The German was gushing over his opponent and predicted that he would keep moving up the rankings.

He predicted that “if he keeps playing like that, he’s going to climb up the rankings very quickly and become one of those guys himself.”

He consistently rushes us skilled players. Top players believe they can control and somewhat manipulate the match to their advantage while they are in control, but that is not feasible when they are playing against him.

Thus, I believe that explains why he has a fantastic top-10 record. He is an amazing athlete.
