Sourav Ganguly praises Bumrah, Shami, and Siraj and declares, “You Can’t Get Better Fast Bowling Attack,” for the next Asia Cup

The pace-trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj, in the opinion of former India captain Sourav Ganguly, is the strongest fast bowling assault that any side could have for the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup 2023.

Men in Blue’s speed attack has been strengthened by Bumrah’s return to India’s bowling lineup just in time as the squad prepares for the quadrennial tournament in October.

He also called them a “fantastic side” and lauded all-around spin bowler Ravindra Jadeja.

“This squad is incredibly powerful. The return of Bumrah strengthens the squad even more. The bowling trio of Shami, Bumrah, and Siraj is excellent. A better quick bowling assault is impossible to find. And Jadeja’s wrist spinner, the spin. elite batters. Sourav Ganguly remarked on Star Sports that India has a terrific team that simply needs to show up and play excellent, focused cricket throughout the Asia Cup and the World Cup.

The former BCCI president agreed with Team India captain Rohit Sharma that the No. 4 hitter is not an issue and that anybody can bat in that position. Ganguly made the argument that skill and flexibility are more important than anything else by using himself and Sachin Tendulkar as examples, both of whom changed their batting positions at various points in their careers.

Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul are two choices for India to fill that position, while Ganguly believes Virat Kohli can also bat at No. 4.

“4 is only a number. Anyone can blend in. Therefore, I really don’t think I ever thought that anybody is born as an opener or at number 3 or 4, even while I was playing. As you may recall, I began playing one-day cricket in the middle of the order before moving up to the opening position at Sachin’s request. The same, in my opinion, applies to Sachin. He was a world-class player after batting at number 6 until his captain urged him to open, according to Ganguly.

So, you know, anyone can play at position four? There are two players that can bat at position four: Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer, once the latter has a successful Asia Cup. You have KL Rahul. India is really talented. We don’t have this, we don’t have that, we have too much, that’s the issue, and you can’t decide, I keep hearing. You see, having too many places to stay makes it difficult to choose which is most comfortable for you. You are aware that I can remain there if you have one. So, in my opinion, number 4 has to be decided upon by Rahul, the selectors, and Rohit. I will stick with him till the World Cup. One extra batting spot doesn’t really matter, he said.
