The former captain predicts the T20 World Cup semifinalist countries, England, Australia, South Africa, and the West Indies, leaving out India

The reigning champions, England, are expected to advance to the round of sixteen in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which the USA and the West Indies will co-host. This prediction comes from Michael Vaughan. Australia, South Africa, and the West Indies, in addition to England, are predicted by Vaughan to advance to the semi-finals.

India, the winners of the first T20 World Cup, according to the former England captain, won’t get beyond the group stages.

England, Australia, South Africa, and the West Indies are my four semifinalist teams for the T20 World Cup, Vaughan said on X (previously Twitter) on Wednesday.

The USA, the hosts of the T20 World Cup, will play Canada in a Group A match at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on June 1. The T20 extravaganza is being played by up to 20 teams.

India will start their campaign in New York on June 5th, joining Pakistan, Ireland, the USA, and Canada in Group A.

In the 2022 World Cup final, England defeated Pakistan to win their second T20 World Cup. Group B includes Australia, Scotland, Namibia, and Oman—all past winners.

Group C includes the host West Indies, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea.

Group D is made up of the Netherlands, Bangladesh, Nepal, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.

Each group will send two teams to the Super 8 stage, where they will be split into two pools of four players each. The semi-finals will be contested by the top four teams from this round.

The BCCI announced the 15-man team that Rohit Sharma would lead India with on Tuesday. Hardik Pandya, an all-rounder, has been selected the vice captain.

Several of the world’s best T20 players are presently competing in the IPL 2024. The world cup-bound English players would have to withdraw from the tournament by May 22 in order to play a home series against Pakistan, the country has stated.
