Unmukt Chand Is Not Included in the USA Team for the T20I Series Against Canada; Former India Under-19 Star and Former RCB Batter

India’s 2010 and 2012 Under-19 World Cup representative, spinner Harmeet Singh, has been included in the USA’s 15-man team for the five-match Twenty20 International Series against Canada, which begins on April 7.

The Prairie View Cricket Complex (PVCC) in Houston, Texas, will serve as the home field for all of the USA’s matches as co-hosts of the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup.

Singh, a former player for the Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals, was the first-ever Major League Cricket (MLC) draft choice in history. The Seattle Orcas snatched Singh, and he later led the Seattle Thunderbolts of MiLC to the championship in 2022.

He participated in both the 2010 and 2012 Under-19 World Cups for India, and he was a key player in the country’s 2012 championship victory. Singh was looked into by the BCCI in 2013 amid the IPL spot-fixing scandal for allegedly speaking with a bookie, although he was later found not to have broken any laws.

Not Chosen for the USA Squad, Unmukt Chand
Remarkably, Unmukt Chand, the captain of India’s U19 World Cup-winning team, is conspicuously absent from the team. Despite hitting for over 1500 runs in 45 innings across the three MiLC seasons, Chand did not make the team.

Corey Anderson succeeds
Corey Anderson, a former international for New Zealand who last competed for the country in 2018, is another noteworthy addition to the team. He participated in the MiLC and amassed 900 runs with a 146 strike rate in 28 innings. Along with former Canada captain Nitish Kumar, former South African domestic players Andries Gous and Shadley Van Schalkwyk, and former Delhi and Royal Champions Bengaluru player Milind Kumar, all make the team.

The team will be led by Monank Patel, with Aaron Jones serving as his deputy. “This series holds immense significance for our team as the ICC T20 World Cup approaches,” USA skipper Monank Patel said on the roster selection. These games will help us find the perfect combinations and get ready for the World Cup as we welcome some new players to the group.

Monank Patel (captain), Aaron Jones (vertical coach), Andries Gous, Corey Anderson, Gajanand Singh, Harmeet Singh, Jessy Singh, Milind Kumar, Nisarg Patel, Nitish Kumar, Noshtush Kenjige, Saurabh Netravalkar, Shadley Van Schalkwyk, Steven Taylor, Usman Rafiq are the members of the USA official squad for the T20I Series against Canada.

Juanoy Drysdale, Saiteja Mukkamalla, and Shayan Jahangir are the reserve players.
