Watch: After being out against the Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant smashes the bat on his way back

Rishabh Pant, the captain of the Delhi Capitals (DC), was visibly upset after being removed against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Thursday. This was clear after DC suffered their second consecutive defeat at the beginning of the IPL 2024 season.

Rajasthan won back-to-back matches against Delhi, winning by 12 runs in the last over, although the outcome made Pant’s comeback to competitive cricket after his horrible automobile accident in December 2022 even more disappointing.

Pant under extra pressure after needing to use 26 balls to get 28 runs, as Delhi needed to win by chasing a difficult 186. He tried to unshackle himself by edging a cut ball into wicketkeeper Sanju Samson’s hands off leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal.

With Pant’s removal, RR gained more authority over the situation. The DC captain realised that, which is presumably why, in a fit of rage, he broke his bat as he was making his way down the tunnel to the dressing room.
On March 31, DC will play host to the reigning champion Chennai Super Kings.
