Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya exited the field after injuring his ankle while delivering his first over here on Thursday, giving Bangladesh an early advantage in their World Cup match.

The incident happened on the third delivery of the ninth over when Pandya used his right foot on the followthrough to block Litton Das’ straight drive from Bangladesh.

Pandya, an all-rounder, stumbled and fell on the ground as the ball went below him, twisting his ankle in the process.

Pandya stumbled towards his bowling mark after having his right ankle taped, which caused a significant delay. Pandya felt agony the instant he stood up.

Pandya left the field at this point, and Suryakumar Yadav took his place as the replacement fielder.

However, Virat Kohli rolled his arm over to finish the over, allowing only two runs to be scored, much to the delight of the audience.
