Watch: Fans Go Crazy During Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni’s Wholesome Moment During CSK vs. RCB

Chennai Super Kings defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets to begin their IPL 2024 championship defense. The game was played in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, home of the reigning champions. As RCB labored against the five-time winners on Friday night, CSK demonstrated once again that they are an unbreakable team in their own home.

However, a photo of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni went viral before the game even started. During the season opener at the Chepauk, Kohli and Dhoni’s friendship was clear.

The pair greeted one another before the RCB innings began, and a video of them grinning was well-received by supporters.

The two had a short conversation when Kohli walked up to Dhoni and put his hand over the CSK wicketkeeper’s shoulder.

As the sides shook hands to close the match, Kohli and Dhoni offered their supporters one more unforgettable moment.

The captain of the RCB, Faf du Plessis, got the team off to a brilliant start with eight fours in only 23 balls. The former South African international hit 35 runs off 23 balls, leaving the CSK quick bowlers perplexed. As Kohli watched in disbelief from the other end, Du Plessis retained much of the strike and seemed in excellent condition.

That was before Bangladeshi fast Mustafizur Rahman, who hit two in the fifth over, was brought in by CSK as the trump card. He got rid of Rajat Patidar for a duck after getting rid of Du Plessis, which gave CSK the opportunity to respond.

RCB was in serious danger when Deepak Chahar dismissed Glenn Maxwell for a golden duck in the last over of the powerplay.

After the team quickly lost three wickets, Kohli had to surrender and save the innings. However, things took a turn for the worst for the RCB when Kohli holed to deep mid-wicket in an effort to change gears. In 20 balls, he scored 21 runs.

RCB had an outstanding finish thanks to a 95-run partnership for the sixth wicket between Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Karthik. With a formidable 173 runs on the board at the conclusion of their innings, RCB scored 83 of those 95 runs in the last six overs.

Rachin Ravindra, a recent addition, helped CSK get off to a strong start by scoring 37 from 15. Two good contributions came from Ajinkya Rahane (27), and Daryl Mitchell (22), while skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was removed for a run-a-ball of 15.

With an undefeated 66-run partnership for the fifth wicket, Shivam Dube (34* off 28) and Ravindra Jadeja (25* off 17) got CSK over the finish line and sealed the win.
