West Indies defeat India by two wickets in the second Twenty20 International thanks to Nicholas Pooran and the tailenders

Following Nicholas Pooran’s valiant half-century, wicketkeepers Akeal Hosein and Alzarri Joseph kept their composure in the last overs as West Indies defeated India by two wickets in the second T20I. With their unbroken 26-run partnership for the ninth wicket, Hosein and Joseph led West Indies to victory in an exciting game of cricket that saw the momentum swing in both directions.

By getting critical wickets in the last overs, the Indian bowlers were able to get the visitors back into the game, but they were unable to beat Hosein and Joseph. At Providence Stadium in Guyana, West Indies finished off the 153-run goal with 7 balls remaining.

West Indies lost two wickets in the opening over of the goal chase thanks to Hardik Pandya’s outstanding bowling display. He got rid of Johnson Charles for merely two, then Brandon King for a golden duck.

West Indies quickly regained control of the match when Nicholas Pooran destroyed the Indian bowlers. Six fours and four sixes were included in the southpaw’s 67 runs off 40 balls.Rovman Powell (21) and Shimron Hetmyer (22) offered some assistance, but it wasn’t enough.

Following Pooran’s dismissal, the West Indies had a brief collapse as they continued to lose wickets at regular intervals, but Hosein and Joseph saved the day. For the Windies, Hosein scored the game-winning runs.

The top Indian hitters earlier fell short once again, but youthful Tilak Varma saved the day with his first-ever international half-century. The southpaw contributed 51 runs to India’s difficult 152/7 total.

After the visitors got off to a shaky start, losing two wickets for 18 runs, Varma, who was India’s top scorer in the first T10I in Trinidad with 39 off 22 deliveries, came up with another valiant innings, scoring 51 off 41 deliveries. Suryakumar Yadav was run out for only three runs, while Shubman Gill was removed for just seven after failing to score significantly once again.

Varma, who was just playing in his second T20I match, kept the innings together when he came in at 76/4 and played a fantastic knock in response. He played several magnificent shots after beginning carefully, aiding India in reaching the three-figure mark. His 51 came off 41 deliveries, with five fours and a six among the runs.

Ishan Kishan (27) and Hardik Pandya (24) produced some significant bat-related contributions to aid India’s comeback.

As India failed to reach 150 runs, Romario Shepherd (2-28), Alzarri Joseph (2-28), and Akeal Hosein (2-29) each got two wickets.
